Pay It Forward

Recently a young teenager passed away. He was my son's best friend. I wanted to do something special for this young man that touched so many lives. I wrote a letter is memory of him, and it said, "I have done something nice for you in memory of ______. The only thing I ask is that you do something nice for someone else today and pass this note along the way". I also asked for prayers for the family and siblings. I stopped at a Mcdonald's and paid for the car behind me. I asked the cashier to hand the driver the note, and tell him that his purchase was free today. I felt good to keep the memory of this young man alive, and also do something nice for someone that day.

This morning I woke up and was going over some of my bills. I was confused about one that I had, as to whether or not I had sent the payment for this month. I have been struggling financially and have a son going to college in june. I called the company that I owed the bill to (balance of about $850.00). They told me the account was paid in full! I am not kidding! I asked her to verify the account number again and it matched mine. I also asked her to verify the name, and again it was mine.

I don't know if this was a miracle, but I can tell you that God does work in mysterious ways. Thank you Lord for all of your blessings.

That is one version of the grateful dead man, there is another. My favorite version of this is a story called The Water wheel. It tells the tale of three princes trying to save a dying father. Two are corrupt and hinder the third while also ignoring the needs of other along the way. The third gives all he can and in the end finds that one of those he helped is in a position to right the wrongs his brothers had created for him. This is just a brief synapse but you get the idea.
As for your story, I too have had some interesting experiences like yours. I have recently taken upon myself to help two older homeless men on my block with food and water whenever I can. Oddly enough I have not received an energy bill for six months. Every time it arrives it shows that I have credit owed to me. I don't ask why I just smile and know there are forces greater than me at work. Once when traveling cross country knowing full well I did not have enough money for gas all the way I received twice the change I supposed too on three different occasions during thee trip and never noticed until the next stop. I tell you, I love this crazy world! Glad to know others are out there trying to make a difference!

"Paid by a grateful Dead!" This is what comes to my mind at your story. I once read a mere fairytale which nevertheless had a serious core as it was written to explain how karma and reincarnation work. In this, a man is saved from bankruptcy at the gambling table by an unknown old man in a wheelchair playing one game with him as his partner and "breaking the bank open" i.e. Making the man rich. Afterwards, the man gets to know that it had been the ghost of a rich one who had been lying dead in a chapel and whom this same man had been asked to rob off the Dead Cross by a demon in flesh... The man had refused, and chased the demon off, thus saving the rich one's soul, and by gratefulness the soul helped him afterwards.
May it be the dead young man who did the miracle or may your good luck have been of some more mundane nature, it proves that all we give with a pure heart will be rewarded a hundredfold. Congratulations!
