Thankfulness

What do you think? I think thankfulness is a great Spiritual Gift from God. Let me tell you why I am thankful. Maybe you will be able to relate.

I have been a Christian for the last 45 years. I have had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ during all that time and although I have let him down and let the side down on countless occasions, I can promise you that He has never ever let me down. That is something to be really thankful for.

I have arrived at the Biblical age of three score years and ten. I could have been killed many times. I was in three air mishaps. I have traveled and driven hundreds of thousands of miles without any serious accident traveling through over 40 countries. Now that is certainly not due to my great driving abilities but on account of my Guardian and protecting angel.

In my present marriage I have an amazing wife and seven wonderful children aged from 7 to 23 years old. I also have children from previous marriages and one of them has just recently become reconciled to his old dad. Read about it in my blog the Journey Home. Now that is another reason for being thankful. After drifting around in various Protestant denominations and sects I have at last come home to the Church that Jesus founded on the Apostle Peter 2000 odd years ago. I am really thankful for that!

I am also very thankful for the Spiritual experiences web site where I can relate to you and others my lifetime of experiences.

I think the top reason for being thankful is to know and to have experienced the unconditional love of Christ just for me. (And of course for you too). If I had been the only person in the world, I believe Jesus would have gone to Calvary to save just me and to forgive me for my confessed sins. Think about it. That is wonderful, isn't it?

I am also learning to be thankful for all those that Jesus allows to cross my path who are not sympathetic and many times just plain antagonistic. I have found that with His help of course it is possible to love them and pray for them and by prayer and love to even soften them and change them. I have noticed this just recently as I am learning not to hate people that upset me. It is possible because if I can do it anyone can.

I am thankful for each day that arrives and passes. At my age death can strike suddenly or even slowly with some terminal illness and so every day counts as a gift from God.

Well that is something to go on with. Hope you like it and I would love to hear your reactions, good or bad. God bless and have a great day making the very best of what you have been given. Life after all is a gift. We did nothing to earn it, it just happened to come our way.

There would be many other things to be thankful for like health in all my family and in myself and friends like you who are reading this and and and. Please feel free to add more from your experiences.

One last thing as I look back on some events that happened in my life which were not pleasant, I have noticed that eventually they do work together for good and have been blessings in disguise. Paul's letter to the Romans Chapter 8 verse 28 states, "All things work together for good to those who love God and to those who are called according to his purposes." My son wrote a great pop song called Perfect day on the same subject. You can you tube it on kingfamily perfect day. It is a great song and was in the charts for a short time.
